Faith, the Vampire Slayer is on its way back to the VPN
Here's the place to get all your latest news, and spoilers about this action-packed second season of one of the VPN's most favourited shows.
New! Speaking of contracts, the producers of Faith the Vampire Slayer were thankful enough to share with us some of the information on the actors contracts.
-Eliza Dushku: the producers told us "We couldn't possibly do the show without Eliza, and when we first approached her, she signed a one year contract, just to see how the show goes. After its succession she signed on for another 4 years, which will exceed towards a fifth season.
-D.B Woodside: "He will be facing a renewal," the producers told, "he first signed on for the 12 episodes, and then when we approached him he signed on for another year."
-Marc Blucas: "He signed on for 3 years from the beginning," the producers told VPtoday, "So yes, he signed on for longer than Eliza at first. So he'll be facing a renewal by year four."
-Shannen Doherty: "We approached Shannen for a five year contract in which she was more than happy to sign."
-Seth Green: "He signed on for the first 13 episodes too, and then for another whole season. But, has just gone under another contract, a newer one, that limits him to about 13-14 episodes this year.
-Felicia Day: "Doesn't really have a contract, in terms of everyone else, but is signed on for a series regular for as long as the writers wish for her to be in the show."
-David Anders: "David has signed on for 5 years."
PLEASE NOTE: All contracts are easily altered, and changed throughout the course of the show; an example of that would be that Seth Green first signed on for the full 22 and was cut back to about 13-14 eps. Also, contracts don't get in way of the story, in saying, the actors sign on for however long they think they can last before having different carreer changes in terms of movies, shows, etc. Renewal for contracts will take place after the completion of the second season.
New! Ooh, a few contract issues, with Iana Milicevic. As we all know, Ivana Milicevic has been playing Sam Finn for two seasons now, and when asked to sign for a series regular spot, for at least another two seasons, she denied. When VPtoday caught up with her to ask her about this she told us, and I quote, "I like to live in the moment. Sam has been a fun character to play, and as far as I know her character reaches new levels this season, which is very challenging for me as an actress. I do see myself playing Sam for a long time, but I don't feel as though a series regular position would be right for her, or me in fact."
New! To celebrate the fact that Faith is coming along smoothly, producers have aired a promotional trailer, teasing the very first episode that is months away. The trailer shows us where every character is now, since the epic season finale "Destiny". It seems that Anthony's job may have been threatened, and that Oz is struggling to control the beast inside, Robin has a new job, a new character is introduced, and finally Faith realising the worst of all possible things...
New! It's Official. Faith the Vampire Slayer is currently in production. With the first four episodes shot, ready to be taking under the knife and edited for air, the season finds itself moving along quite smoothly. Next episode is set to begin shooting next week.
New! The next two episode titles have been revealed, thanks to the producers of Faith, the Vampire Slayer; with only a little bit of information given out about what the title means for the actual episode itself.
- 2x05: Just Like Me
When questioned on the title, the producers simply told VpToday that, and I quote, "Faith has a mini-me. Someone who is in that same state that she was during the third season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And this troubled teenager will do anything to be like her...even commit her past murders."
-2x06: Secret
"Everyone has secrets," the producers told VpToday when asked about the relevance of the title, "and in this episode, they're not all going to stay hidden."
Thankfully we were able to catch up with Shannen Doherty on the set of Faith, the Vampire Slayer today where we were given some clues as to what this new episode is about:
So I guess Jennifer's big shining moment has arrived, huh?
"You could say that. But, this episode doesn't really show Jennifer in her most shiny-est moment possible. Sure, this episode is centered on her personally, but the big shining moment has yet to come," replied Doherty.
Any news on Oz?
"Ah. I'm not sure I can say much about that. You'll just have to wait for September to come and find out for yourself," she answered.
Okay, one last thing. We all saw the 90210 finale the other night, and we're dying to know if you'll be back for season 2?
"I don't really know about that one. I only decided to come and do the show because of how many 'we want Brenda back' fans, hopefully we'll see Brenda back in season 2 with her baby. Right now I think everyone is trying their hardest to get Jason (Brandan) back on."
So. That's the latest we have on FTVS. That's it for now. We probably won't get any more information until the next month or so. We'll keep in touch - VPtoday
Michael Weatherly (NCIS, Dark Angel) joins the cast of FTVS, playing a police officer named Mark Davidson. Attracting to cases that of the supernatural, he soon finds himself running into Faith which could stir up some problems....
A leaked image of FTVS's third episode, entitled "Take Back the Night" has hit the world wide web that shows a wounded Oz lying in the destruction of Riley's Mansion. With the rest of the team surrounding him, plus a never before seen character, could this mean that Seth Green's character is gonna bite the dust this season?
When interviewed about her character's continuity in the Faith series, Shannen Doherty had this to say: "Jennifer will be quite the mystery this season," Doherty told VPtoday, "I haven't done much filming as of yet, but from what the producers have told me, Jennifer will have her shining moment this season. But right now, she's pretty much out of the country and away from the rest of the group." Actress Shannen Doherty is currently working on the new 90210 season finale and TV film Resistance.
From what we've gathered, FTVS season 2 seems to be moving along smoothly. The fourth episode will begin shooting next week.
